And a touch of prettiness.

With all of the boyness of my last two posts, I thought I had better add a touch of colour - the flowers at the bottom were being worked on while the boys were making glasses. I tried to get them involved but making bat-like head gear was much more fun. Maybe Jonno will want to have a go at them when he comes home. Probably not though.
By the way, the beautiful flowers are from my mother-in-law and she brought three different kinds of dessert with her - all gluten free too. She's a keeper.

Crazy Glasses Craft.

We unpacked our craft supplies for stained glass windows but somehow a reddened mist of craziness descended and we made supersonic glasses instead. Hugo had a bit of help but Archie's bat glasses were completely his own work. I wonder if he will make me some Dame Edna Everedge glasses, complete with jewels and sparkle. I had better be nice.

A Farmy Weekend.

As I posted earlier, this weekend was all about the farm, the family and perhaps most importantly the food. The boys were busy chasing after their big cousins which meant the kitchen was free for me to create and create and create. And the best thing of all is that I barely have to cook for the rest of the week!

Sneaking Away...

Right now I am sneaking away from all of my duties to just put a little bit of time into greedy for colour. I miss it so much even though it was only Wednesday when I last had time for it. These school holidays are taking a bit out of me with calving and sick children. Blogging is so illicit right now and this sweetens the relationship all the more.
I had better start cooking in a moment, we have family staying and more coming over for dinner tonight and they all enjoy a bit of nutrition. A huge pot of butter chicken I am thinking and cake and biscuits - I guess it is the kind of nutrition that is perhaps more enriching for the soul.
Away I go with warmth in my heart.

New Love.

This is strange for a girl with a love of strong colour. I can feel myself drifting towards a visual softness which I have never experienced before. Where are my rich yellows, red and pinks. My bold spring grass and deep, matte turquoise. Maybe it's the weather, maybe being cloistered at home with two boys, maybe a deep yearning of the soul for apples and cocoa... who knows. Am I still allowed to call myself greedy for colour?

Under Orders From Mum...

On the phone last night with my mum, the hard word was given in updating the blog. I explained that the memory card in my camera was not working but she felt that was not excuse and suggested either using Archie's camera or dipping into my archives. So here is a little glimpse of how I set my resin brooches out and a little after picture. I also couldn't resist adding a photo of Hugo in his vest when it was freshly knitted and very clean.
Calving is well and truly underway here on the farm with forty calves hitting the ground (hopefully not too hard). It always coincides with Archie's three weeks of winter holidays creating a kind of Bermuda triangle whirlpool. How great it will be when the boys are old enough to do calving all by themselves during their holidays and Jonno and I can retreat to a warmer climate. So here you go Mum, another post.
By the way, crochet experiments have been going on in this house so stay tuned until my camera is fixed...

Favourite home things.

My favourite jacket waiting to fling its hollow sleeves around my arms.
My favourite cookbooks.
My favourite wedding day (okay, my only one).
Our fireplace surrounded by my current favourite colour.

By the way, there may be questions over why so many posts in one day. I just needed some time to reflect on the tiniest glimpses of beauty in the day, I needed to not dwell on the less beautiful moments that were cropping up weed-like all day filled with seeds and ready to sprout if I gave them too much attention.
