A New Dress - well almost......

Dont you love finding the perfect fabric, the very thing that you didn't know you couldn't live without. That's how I felt when I stumbled across this roll at Spotlight (good old Spotlight). It's 100% cotton AND jersy to boot - it's quite stretchy but firm enough to sew. Now all I need to do is cordon off a morning or afternoon to sew it up - that'll be easy enough...... won't it......????
Lots of love,

A Fabric Fix.

Today I went fabric shopping - the first time in ages. I was actually going to spend the morning doing computer work but then a flyer came from Spotlight and on the back page were these new prints from Belle and Boo!!!!! It was like a dream come true. So I rang my next door neighbour (I thought she might be up for an adventure), jumped into the car and teleported into town.
It just so happened that there was a sale today on all quilting fabrics and the selection I was after went down to slightly less than half price!!!
 I bought stuff.

Still in the washing machine (funny how quickly I wash new fabrics but school uniforms... they can lounge around in the bottom of the laundry chute for days) are some corduroys and a plain acid yellow drill. I'll show you them tomorrow.

Fluffy the Deer Finds a Home.

I don't know if you can remember Fluffy the deer who I made late last year? I finally hung him up on the kitchen wall, giving him the respect he so deserves.
He is actually surprisingly good company for when I am cooking - always looking over my shoulder with an interesting comment or suggestion.
As mentioned in my last post (a week ago... eeek), Mum has come to stay and we have been working on a quilt together using Nani Iro fabric. Any decent strip left over from the main pieces have been assembled and I am hoping there will be enough to make a cushion from.
Look at all of those neat little piles. So satisfying.
Have a lovely day/night!
Lots and lots of love,

The Week is Ending!

I love the colours of 4 ply cotton so much...
I wish the company made an 8ply equivalent. They are just edible.
This is Hugo's early morning drawing of an alien with bosoms. Need I say more?
And a little photo of one of my all time favourite Liberty patterns. I am not sure what the name is but I always keep my eye out for it (unsuccessfully). Mum brought it back from England for me years ago.
I am so sorry it has been such a quiet blogging week - I have really only taken these photos of pretty today things as an excuse to pop by and say hello. Poor old Archie has had a temperature bug this week so we have spent a lot of time doing cosy things like reading books, drinking tea (me) and chatting. However, there has been little time for anything else. Archie is well and truly back to health so hopefully next week there may be a few voila moments.
Until then, have a lovely weekend!
Lots and lots of love, Kate xxooxxooxx.

Holidays and Fabric.

A rainy morning in the camper van called for a bit of embroidery.

Proof that creativity boosts your serotonin (and makes you a little wacky).

Fabric buys from Spotlight.
Well, here we are back from holidays. Well rested, well fed and yet strangely, still wanting more. We somehow managed to hit the rainiest, coldest snap of the holidays but because we were in the camper van, we were as snug as sardines in a can. Plenty of mineral hot water pools as we were over Rotorua way and endless jokes between the boys about the sulphery smell. What more could a family need. In fact, I have to say it was the most wonderful holiday and the boys were great company and they slept well. We have had so many holidays turned grim from terrible nights without sleep so this was an amazing experience.
I quickly ducked into Spotlight and picked up a little bit of fabric. I can't even begin to tell you the fevered state of my brain when I saw the car fabric for $4(NZ) per metre. It is so hard to find boy patterns that are sweet rather than militia based. It took a while to find the cotton yarn but finally I discovered it hiding under a table with every ball on sale for between $2-$3. It felt like one of those gorging dreams.
Anyhoo, I had better go and tackle the huge mound of washing. Thank goodness we are having our first day of sunshine after three weeks of rain.
