A Box of Birds and Home Again!

Oh my goodness it's heaven to be home again. We had a wonderful Christmas and a lovely three weeks spent in Australia with family, but the old saying holds true.... Yes Dorothy, there really is no place like home. I am however, currently coming up with plans to squish Australia and New Zealand together. I just can't quite get the tectonic plates to shift enough without major volcanic activity.
By the way, look what I bought - a box of birds! And they were only $5.50 - bargain!!!!!!!
They've escaped from their box and I keep finding them in the funniest of places. Last night we had friends over for dinner and they (the birds) scattered themselves across our picnic table, only darting for crumbs when we weren't looking.
We're well into summer with hot nights and imploring rain dances. It is such a beautiful summer but we are really needing to hide in the sweltering afternoons. Luckily I have some good books up my sleeve which I will write about soon.
Nothing like sitting outside in the evening with a cooling breeze and homemade candles.
And of course, playing our favourite game Quiddler. The whole family is obsessed with it - boys included and we are very fortunate that our neighbours don't mind playing the odd game or five with us too.
Lots and lots and lots of love,
Kate. xxooxx.

  1. Welcome home Kate. We are the complete juxtaposition to you and are snuggled by the fire in the evenings. Crochet hooking helps keep us snugly. I have loved a burst of summer ,colour and joy. Thank you xx

  2. Kate. Love the box of birds. So pretty. Always nice to be home.
Wish I had some of your hot weather. Morning and evenings are so cold here at the moment.

  3. welcome back Kate!!!!

  5. Welcome Home Kate. Your pretty birds remind me of my grandfather's Christmas decorations - he had sparkly birds of the same shape, with feathery tails that would perch in the Christmas tree. Whenever I see birds like that I think of him. Summer holidays are great for games of all sorts - we play a lot of domino games because they are not as difficult to handle as a handful of cards. Enjoy the rest of the holidays.

  6. What beautiful birds and roses! So nice to see you're back and had a great time away. Must try out that game, never heard of it but sounds fun, since we love scrabble.

  7. what i quiddler? I've never heard of it, but if it's a card game I'm in

  8. Hello Kate!Nice to hear you enjoyed your holiday in Australie...I have family also over there but for me it's too far away to visit them :-(.I just have a question...can't find your book Stanley and the hot air balloon in your Etsy shop, aren't they available anymore?
