My Vintage, Crochet Caravan!

This is what I have been working on for quite some time now. My own little caravan. I've been a bit reluctant to post about it because of copyright issues but then I thought.... do I really want to be all squirrely - I would so prefer to share with you guys what I am doing. So, this is what you do when you would love to have caravan, but just can't quite justify it - crochet hooks come out and a new pattern is developed. Keep in mind that this really is a work in progress and any patterns will be a very long way from being released in any format.
Meet Rosie.
Remember the kitchen sink - this is who it was made for.
Both windows have net curtains made from my grandmother's lace.
 Spare tyre for emergencies.
I would love to crawl into this bed for a nap.
Cup of tea anyone?

The tap is made from an earring.
I used my one of my favourite Liberty fabrics for the decking - it's so retro and caravany.

And shouldn't all caravans have a name like Rosie or Flo?
Unfortunately I'm not keeping this one - she is going to be sold as a fundraiser for the boys' school and is up for auction tonight at the ball. I'll let you know how she goes tomorrow. In the meantime though, I just want to start making the next one!
Lots and lots of love,
Kate.

  33. How gorgeous is that? You are very clever! Don't worry about copycats. People need both artistic vision and the crochet know how and not many people have both (many of us don't even have one!)Loving the surprise of having a working inside - it's so cute and reminds me of a dormouse house I never made for my daughter (this was stitched though). Whoever wins it in the auction is very lucky indeed. Once it is a pattern it will be very popular I think!

I would love to make a mascot for it like your little caravan. I am not that good at crochet yet but would love a pattern for this. Thank for sharing with us, would you mind if i share your work with friends who also love to crochet ? Well done, your work is beautiful :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hi Kate!!! First of all, thanks for sharing this with all of us! I'm so glad you did! :)

I was gobsmacked when I saw it, even more so when I saw the interior! This is where that little kitchen sink lives, ahah! It reminds me of the little polly pocket toys my girls had when they were little! Tiny miniature worlds hidden inside! It must have been quite tricky to make some of the features!

I don't know how you could bear to be parted from such a wonderful achievement, but as it is for a good cause - I hope it will raise plenty of money! It should be on display somewhere! :)

I'm wondering what you will come up with next? You are so talented!
