Dogs and Roses.

The last of my "General Galliani" roses have pride of place at my table.
At the beginning of Spring they are bright red and by Winter, they begin to turn all sorts of colours towards cream and apricot. Given the chance they would bloom all year long and they (I have a few bushes) have never suffered a day of ill health in their life. What a rose.
This is my latest project which Jonno is finding highly amusing.
It's going to be a fox terrier for my brother-in-law's birthday and at the moment, Jonno finds it hilarious that I have made a skinned dog for a dog lover. I keep telling him it will look different when it is stuffed. I think Jonno would prefer it if I sent it like this anonymously... brothers - hmmmm.
So hopefully when it is all stitched up, the result will be like this (although I have changed the markings). Hopefully a lot less like a skinned fox terrier.
Well, today has been a busy one, unpacking and clearing some of the gangrenous mess my house is sadly famous for. I was partway through the morning when I remembered that book group was on tonight and horror of all horrors... it was at my house. Needless to say, rather than completely cleaning the whole house, I concentrated on the high traffic areas and then had a nap. So much better a cheerful host with hidden rooms of terrifying mess than a completely clean house with hidden host filled with a terrifying emotional mess. Wouldn't you say. Naps really do plump you up and make you a better person.
Lots of love,
Kate xxooxx.

  1. Johnno might be on to something there ... that's gold!

  2. Loving the dogs Kate. I'm glad to hear you had a nap. I think a good sleep makes everything else more managable, especially our emotions. :)

  3. HA!!
Pity the woman who opens the wrong door.
Brilliant - hope book night is ace.

  4. Now I know where your boys get their interest in animal innards from! Can't wait to see the end result! Thank you so much for your kind comment yesterday...just think we could have been on the same continent! There will always be a warm welcome waiting for you at mine, Kate. Just say the word. xxxx

  5. Such lovely pictures of your roses! And I cannot agree more. Naps truly do make for better, happier people! haha

  6. Saw you on Pinterest, Kate, where someone had pinned your tissue-paper-and-tulle flowers! I love those and plan to make some. Now, you are a more serene woman than I because if parts of my house were awry and company were coming, I wouldn't be able to achieve the calm necessary to actually take a nap! But I'm glad you could and I hope you have fun with your company.

  7. OMG I always wanted to knit my own dog- I must get the book, hahaha!!
